Awards round up...

Cranswick win double gold at the Grocer Own Label Awards

Cranswick were triumphant at the Grocer Own Label Food & Drink Awards on Wednesday 11th May 2011 bringing home not one but two gold awards!

Winning products were:

• Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference 6 Outdoor Bred Cumberland Pork Sausages (best sausage or bacon product)

• Sainsbury's Delicatessen Hand Carved Roast Ham (best deli meat)

The Taste The Difference Cumberland sausages have recently been redeveloped and are now made with 100% Freedom Food British pork and the recipe improved to create a more authentic Cumberland taste using a mixture of white and ground black pepper and fresh parsley.  Nicola Whitehead, our National Account Manager who picked up the award, said it was great for the team to get recognition for all their hard work.

Judges were also impressed by the Sainsbury's Delicatessen Hand Carved Roast Ham.  Whole legs of outdoor reared British pork are marinated in honey before being gently cooked on the bone for a fuller flavour.  The joints are basted by hand and roasted to deliver a succulent meaty full flavoured ham with gentle honeyed tones.

The prizes did not stop there and Cranswick also brought home two silver awards:

• Tesco Finest Extra Matured Norfolk Outdoor Reared Pork Shoulder Joint with pork & Apricot Stuffing (best beef, lamb & pork product)

• Tesco Finest British Outdoor Reared Yorkshire Crumbed Ham (best deli meat)
