Throughout our “Green Thinking” project we have actively sort the advice and input from recognised industry and government bodies. In this way we can be confident that the business decisions we are taking on the environment are based on recognised best practice and that this is being shared across group. As part of this approach we have:

Achieved certification against ISO 14001 at our two largest processing sites (Preston & Valley Park), which is the Internationally recognised standard for Environmental Management.
Calculated the carbon foot print for each of our manufacturing sites using the GHG protocol recommended by the Carbon Trust.
Entered into a formal 3 year Carbon Action Agreement with the Carbon Trust.
Became the first meat sector company to sign up and endorse the FHC2020 agreement.
Entered into a Flexible Energy Management plan with EMTAC who provide the group with specialist support.
We are working with the BMPA in reviewing the Environment Agency`s proposed Resource Appraisal and Development tool (READ) tailored to the needs of the Food Manufacturing Industry which it is hoped will provide the industry with a means to bench marking their environmental performance against similar businesses.
