Cooked Meats Jamie's cooked ham products are made using outdoor-bred British pork, in line with RSPCA Freedom Food welfare standards, and the beef products are made using British beef. Jamie's cooked hams are flavoured with unique blends of herbs and spices before being dry-cured, matured for a minimum of seven days and then slow-cooked for great taste and a fabulous meaty texture. Development The range has been developed in partnership with Cranswick who shares Jamie’s passion for producing top quality food products. Animal welfare is really important to Jamie so all the British pork is from pigs which are outdoor bred on farms in the UK. These farms have been inspected and approved by Freedom Food - the RSPCA’s own farm assurance and food labelling scheme. The pigs are born outdoors in sheltered huts, staying with their mums before being moved into deep straw bedded barns where they continue to stay with the same pigs. Here they are kept in social groups where they have room to move, lie comfortably and express their natural foraging and rooting behaviours. Sows are kept outdoors at all times, with access to shelters with plenty of straw bedding material to allow them to lie comfortably and to nest build. Freedom Food is the only farm assurance and food labelling scheme dedicated to improving the lives of farm animals. The RSPCA standards cover all aspects of the pig’s life including living conditions, diet, handling, transport and slaughter. |
